The Manitoba government has proclaimed October as Dyslexia Awareness Month. This month is an opportunity to raise awareness, build understanding, and create environments where every learner can thrive.

This morning senior administration spent time with staff at transportation, maintenance, and our administration offices to smudge, learn, and honour the intent behind the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Recognizing truth and reconciliation is not only about learning history, but about being mindful of how that history continues to shape the experiences of Indigenous peoples today, and the need to continue our commitment to this important work.

The next meeting of our Board of Trustees takes place October 6 starting at 6:30 p.m., at the RETSD Administration Offices. Parents and other stakeholders are welcome to take part, either in person or virtually. Learn more: https://bit.ly/47roTwA

All flags at RETSD schools and buildings will be flown at half-mast from sunrise to sunset today, to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30. Today will be a day of learning across the school division, providing staff and students with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the impacts of colonialism, the legacy of residential schools, and the ongoing systemic barriers faced by Indigenous Peoples.
