Parenting for Prevention — Virtual Information Sessions

How to Talk with Your Early/Middle Years Child About Substance Use

Substance use prevention starts early, with developmental experiences and family support shaping future choices.

Join RETSD and Shared Health Substance Use Counsellors at a virtual event for parents and caregivers. You’ll explore how addictive substances affect youth development, how harmful products are marketed to children, and how families can support healthier choices as children grow.

There are two sessions on November 19, 2026, to choose from:

  • 12-1 p.m. or
  • 6-7 p.m.

You don’t have to have a student in RETSD to register — parents and caregivers with students in any school division are welcome.

Register here.

A link for the session will be emailed after registration.
