An updated rendering will be posted once finalized.

Our Board of Trustees advocates for new schools and resources to meet the growth of communities within the River East Transcona School Division. Last year, in partnership with the Province of Manitoba, we announced that a new school is being built in the Devonshire area of Transcona to accommodate unprecedented enrolment growth due to new housing developments.

The new school is more than just a new building; it’s a heart for a growing community. The Government’s original announcement was to create space for 650 students, but knowing the community is still expanding, the RETSD Board of Trustees advocated for a larger school. We’re happy to announce that 800 students will now call the school home. As a result, all of the students currently being transported out of the neighbourhood will be able to return to their community to discover their talents, form friendships, and make memories. The school will also have 134 spaces for infants, preschoolers and school-aged children.

We are grateful to the Province of Manitoba, including Premier Wab Kinew and the Honourable Tracy Schmidt, minister of education and early childhood learning, for partnering with the River East Transcona School Division to meet the infrastructure needs of our growing school community.

Groundbreaking Ceremony

On June 2, the Board of Trustees, senior administration, and divisional staff joined the Government of Manitoba for a ceremonial sod turning at the location of the new kindergarten to Grade 8 school being built in the Devonshire area. Our sincere thanks to the Manitoba Government for partnering with us and making this new school possible.

We are excited to announce that an initial catchment area map for the new K-8 school has been created. Please note, due to the continued growth in the area, this is not the final version. Once additional details have been confirmed it will be updated and we will let the community know via our website and social media.
