2026 School Trustee Elections

October 2026 Election Information

Eligible voters in River East Transcona School Division will have the opportunity to cast their ballot for School Trustee during the civic election on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

Anyone interested in running can visit the Candidates for School Trustee page on the City of Winnipeg's website for more information. Registration for candidates for School Trustee will end on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 4:30 p.m.

The Public Schools Act requires each ward to be within 25% of each other in terms of the total number of voters, and RETSD is currently above that threshold in one of the wards. Due to this boundary adjustments were necessary to ensure equitable representation across wards, based on resident voter data from the 2022 civic election.

The changes include:

• Reducing the number of wards from five to four
• Allocating three trustees to Ward 4, which will include the RM of East St. Paul
• Allocating two trustees each to Wards, 1, 2, and 3
• Minor boundary changes to Wards 2 and 3
