Administration of Medication

School personnel cannot administer non-prescription medication.  Prescription drugs can be administered only with parental permission, provided the required forms, with your doctor’s information, have been completed.  A form is available at the school office.  An adult must bring medication to school.

Injury and Illness

If your child is ill or injured at school, we will call you or your emergency contact.  First aid will be administered as required.  If we are unable to reach you and the illness or injury is serious, a member of the staff will take your child to the hospital or accompany him/her there by ambulance.

Life Threatening Allergies

Anaphylaxis, or allergic shock, is a life-threatening allergic reaction that can lead to death if left untreated.  Guidelines are available to enable parents, allergic students, teachers and school administrators to work together effectively to minimize the risks.  Planning and training for emergency situations are also implemented.

Hot Lunch

Our school is concerned about the health and welfare of all our students. Please note that we cannot guarantee that this lunch option is allergy free. We have spoken to the provider and they have indicated that they have not used nuts, peanut butter or peanut oil in this lunch. However, if your child has an allergy we encourage you to use this information to make the most appropriate decision for your child. Additionally, please note the RETSD policy states that it is the responsibility of students with life threatening allergies to only eat food provided from home and not purchase food products from school.
