Gym Activities Through-out the Year
Maple Leaf School offers a number of extra-curricular activities throughout the year. The school also participates in divisional events such as the Tumbling Rally, handball and the Folkdance Festival.
Grade 1 & 2 Blitz Activities
One recess has been set aside for Grade 1 and 2 students to participate in various games, relays and activities in the gym.
Grade 3 Soccer Baseball
Soccer Baseball is a combination of soccer and baseball. It is played on a diamond and fielded like baseball but instead of "batting", a soccer ball is kicked out into the field by the "batter". New teams will be made each week.
Grade 4 Zone Team Handball Club
Zone team handball is a modified version of team handball. This activity has already begun. A tournament, which will conclude this club, will be held April 24th for those students who have already signed up.
Grade 5 Mini Handball Club
Mini Handball is a modified version of team handball. This activity is designed for students interested in improving their throwing, catching and goal keeping skills. This activity has already begun. A tournament, which will conclude this club, well be held on April 25 for those students who have already signed up.
Grades 5 Basketball Club
This club is designed for students interested in developing and honing their basketball skills. Teams for this activity will consist of grade 5 students. Rules used in physical education classes will apply. Students participating will have the opportunity to take part in a tournament in May which will conclude this club. More information regarding the tournament will be sent home at a later date.
Knitting Club
Students in Gr. 3-5 can sign up to join a knitting club. Students are provided with basic knitting skills and will be able to create and keep an item such as a hat or scarf.
