Call Back

If the school has not received prior notification of your child’s absence, the office will contact you or your emergency contact as soon as possible.  This service is designed to ensure your child’s safety.  Please inform the school in advance of your child’s absence.  This may be accomplished by a note to your child’s teacher, by leaving a message on the answering machine at 204-661-9509, or by sending an email to ml@retsd.mb.ca.

Appointments, Pick-ups, and Visitors

All parents, visitors, and former students are asked to report to the office during school hours. The office will contact your child’s teacher to let him/her know that you have arrived.

Update of Information for Our Records

Please keep the school up-to-date by informing us of any changes in business, home, sitter, or emergency phone numbers and/or addresses.

Students Staying After School

If your child is to remain at school after normal school hours, to participate in extracurricular activities or to receive extra assistance, you will be notified in advance.

Media Coverage

On occasion, local newspaper reporters or television stations approach the school to take pictures, write articles, or make videotapes of newsworthy events or celebrations at the school.  At times, our staff produces special educational materials to promote the work of our students and the programs offered at Maple Leaf School.  In this regard, we feel that positive public communication for the school is important. At the beginning of each school year, you will be asked if you would like to OPT OUT of the school sharing photographs or videos your child.

School Calendar

Once a school year, we publish a listing of events for the up-coming year to help parents plan accordingly.  Important dates are also highlighted in our school newsletter.

Supervision

School staff supervise the schoolyard ten minutes prior to the entry bell. Staff members supervise at morning and afternoon recesses. Supervision is provided for students who stay for lunch from 12:15 p.m. to 1:10 p.m. by the Maple Leaf Lunch Program.
