National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The day before—Friday, September 29—students and staff in RETSD will spend time learning about truth and reconciliation and observing the tradition and intent behind this day. We encourage all students and staff to wear orange on Friday.
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation honours the children who never returned home from residential schools, as well as the Survivors, their families, and their communities. It is vital to the reconciliation process that there is public commemoration of this tragic and painful time in our country's history, along with recognition of the ongoing impacts of residential schools.
