Expressive Arts
Students in Grade 6, 7 and 8 are given the option of participating in either the Expressive Arts or Band programs. Students choosing the Expressive Arts program will explore art and drama. Students choosing band will remain in the program
Throughout their three years in the Chief Peguis Expressive Arts program, students are provided with educational experiences intended to develop their knowledge and abilities in three curriculum areas; visual awareness, art production and art appreciation.
Students will experiment with a variety of art techniques and mediums including painting, collage, printmaking, sculpture and digital art. Projects and lessons are designed for student success at all levels and enrichment opportunities or self-directed projects are available. Students are evaluated on quality, concentration and creativity.
In art, students learn by doing. We continually strive to put forth our best effort while developing our artistic voice, art skills and individual creative expression.
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” – Pablo Picasso
