Project Legacy
Project Legacy is a student initiative undertaken to sponsor two orphans from the New Hope Orphanage, because we believe we all can do something to help make the world a better place.
Because of the profusion of HIV and AIDS in the African country of Swaziland, the average life expectancy is 29 years. It is predicted that by the year 2025, there will be no one left over the age of 30. There are already many orphans who, having lost their parents to AIDS or other diseases, have been able to find refuge at the New Hope Orphanage. It is very important that these children survive and thrive, for they are their country’s future.
Our orphans are a brother and sister named Jemimah and Zechariah. In order to sustain this sponsorship and leave our legacy, we will have a Dollar Day once a month, often the first Tuesday, when we will ask for donations. Mrs. Doyle will always be willing to take donations on any day in room 208. If everyone brings in a dollar, we can, as a community, raise enough money to sponsor a few children who are greatly in need of it.
