English as an Additional Language

Developing the language skills necessary for everyday interactions as well as for academic environments is a challenge worthy of recognition for all individuals for whom English is an additional language. The EAL Program at Collège Miles Macdonell Collegiate strongly and diligently promotes, supports and creates opportunities for language acquisition and development. 

Courses range from Grade 10, 11 and 12 EAL to Grade 10 geography, science, information technology and transitional English.

Students enrolled in EAL courses may be newly arrived immigrants, students who have lived in Canada for only a few years or students who have transitioned from the Grade 9 EAL Program at John Pritchard School.

In 2007, students from more than 30 different countries of the world graced our school as a result of participation in our EAL Program.
