Register for 2022–2023 Classes

Classes are starting soon and we look forward to greeting our new (and returning!) students to McLeod Adult Education. Our students are from all walks of life. They come to our adult learning centre knowing they have made a decision that will have a significant impact on their lives. These are the three most common reasons you might be one of those students:

MATURE STUDENT HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA

  • You didn't complete high school. Did you know that 25 per cent of Manitobans have not finished high school?
  • This diploma is a fast-track, eight-credit high school diploma developed by the Province of Manitoba for adults.
  • It features regular high school credits, including Grade 12 English and Mathematics.
  • If you have previously earned high school marks, certain credits may be carried forward.
  • You may also receive credit through the recognition of prior learning.
  • At your registration interview, a form will be completed to determine how you will proceed towards your Mature Student High School Diploma. The form shows which credits you have already achieved and which you plan to take to meet your goal of achieving your diploma and preparing for future career plans. As you receive your marks in the courses you take, your plan will be adjusted to track your progress toward graduation. Please let the registration advisor know if your goal changes in case you need to consider other course options. For example, if you decide to enter a different post-secondary program—which often happens as students discover new interests and talents—you may need specific prerequisites that can be substituted for the ones you initially selected.

REGULAR HIGH SCHOOL COMPLETION

  • You are within a few credits of achieving a regular 30-credit high school diploma.
  • At our centre, you can get the credits you need to graduate.

ACADEMIC UPGRADING

  • Your career goals have changed since you graduated.
  • You can take take extra courses needed for university, college, apprenticeship programs, or career advancement.
  • As a graduate, you can take up to four extra high school courses with no further cost.

PREREQUISITES

  • Certain courses have a prerequisite entry requirement (e.g., Grade 12 Pre-calculus Math has a prerequisite of Grade 11 Pre-calculus Math).
  • Where the student does not have the prior credit, demonstration of prior learning in the specific subject by means of an assessment is an option.
  • Check specific course information for prerequisite requirements.
