Congratulations to Jason Drysdale
At the September 9 special meeting of the Board of Trustees, Jason Drysdale’s letter of retirement was accepted, with regret.
For the past 32 years, Jason has supported colleagues, students, and families with care, integrity, and dedication. His steadfast commitment to public education has never wavered. His presence—and all that he has contributed—will be deeply missed when he retires at the end of December to enjoy pursuits outside of education that bring him joy.
Throughout his career, Jason has exemplified what it means to be an educational and instructional leader. His journey included teaching at Springfield Collegiate and Arthur Day Middle School, as well as serving in administrative roles at Anola, Arthur Day, Dr. F.W.L. Hamilton, John de Graff, and Bernie Wolfe schools.
As a member of the senior administration team for the past 15 years, one of Jason’s most memorable experiences came when he was presented with a beaded medallion from the Manitoba Indigenous Youth Achievement Awards.
Drawing on more than three decades of experience, Jason often reminded new teachers each September to “remember your why”—the calling to help students grow into inspired, skilled, and responsible citizens. It was guidance he both shared and lived throughout his career.
For me, Jason has been a valued colleague and friend since we were both appointed to our first vice-principalships in 1996 and, so, it is with a deep sense of gratitude that I thank him for his extraordinary service. Jason, you will leave a lasting impact on our division.
I am confident that you all join Elise, Cara, Karen, Jón and me in wishing Jason the very best in this next exciting stage of his life!
Sincerely,
Sandra Herbst
