OUR LIBRARY
Welcome To Our School Library
Welcome to the Wayoata Library Learning Commons! We believe that every student should have the skills necessary to navigate in today's information-rich society. Determining information needs, recognizing and selecting appropriate resources, whether print or online, and managing the information are fundamental skills needed for successful academic research. We also strive to instill a love of reading in students at Wayoata School.

Program Description
Throughout the year, each homeroom takes part in at least one inquiry-based learning (IBL) project which is collaboratively planned and taught by Ms. Smolinski and the classroom teacher. The units are curriculum-based, often integrate technology, and support students in developing Manitoba’s six Global Competencies: critical thinking, communication, creativity, citizenship, connection to self, collaboration, and communication.
Each homeroom is scheduled to visit the library once every 6-day cycle for a read aloud and to browse and borrow books.
Lending Policies
- Books are lent out for one 6-day cycle.
- Students are expected to treat books with care and respect.
- Families may be asked to pay for books that have been lost or that are damaged beyond repair. A refund will be given to families who find and return a lost book.
