Student Assessment

Harold Hatcher Elementary School has three formal reporting sessions based on a variety of assessment strategies. Grade 3 students write a provincial math and reading assessment during the first term. Formal reporting to parents occurs in November, March and June, and involves student-led conferences. Informal communication regarding student progress continues on a regular basis throughout the school year, through telephone conversations, the agenda planner in grades 2-5 and school meetings.

Safety & Security

Everyone in our school community is responsible for doing our part to live and work together in harmony. We must respect the strengths and weaknesses of others, communicate clearly and carry out responsibilities to the best of our abilities.

The teachers at Harold Hatcher Elementary School believe every student wishes to be a successful learner. In order to bring about this success, each teacher develops an appropriate learning climate according to his/her teaching practices.

Classroom routines and procedures will be taught to students to assist them in adapting to expectations. A school must provide a safe and comfortable environment for students to learn effectively. Consequently, actions may be taken as per school and/or school division policy to ensure such an environment.
