Lunch

Students who remain at school for lunch will be assigned to designated eating areas.  These students are expected to behave in a calm, cooperative, respectful, and responsible manner.  Responsibilities include cleaning up of eating area before being dismissed.  Once dismissed from the designated eating area, students are expected to remain on school property for the remainder of the lunch hour.Students who do not remain at school for lunch are expected to exit the building promptly at 11:30 a.m.  These students are expected to remain within the Chief Peguis catchment area for the duration of the lunch hour.


Nutrition Policy:

Chief Peguis Junior High recognizes its responsibility in co-operation with the home and community to encourage healthy lifestyles and acknowledge the important role that nutrition plays in the total development and perfomance of individuals.  The school will continue to promote healthy eating through nutrition education, breakfast and lunch programs, and in sale of nuritious foods available for purchase in the canteen (Guidelines for Food Available in K-12 Schools in Manitoba [2006]).


The Wolves Den Canteen

In an effort to provide students with healthy choices for lunch, the members of the Student Leadership Team operate a canteen between 11:30 and 11:50 everyday.

Pizza Day

Every Tuesday, Pizza is available for purchase for $2.50 per slice.


LUNCH PROCEDURES

Students who remain at school are expected to eat in their designated areas inside the school between 11:30 p.m. and 11:45 a.m..   At 11:45 a.m., students are expected to make a decision and relocate to a designated area by 11:50 a.m. (eg.  Library, Gym, Club, outside, etc.). 

During inclement weather (rain, extreme cold, etc.) an announcement will be made that students will have the option of going to the THEATRE at 11:45 a.m. and remaining there until 12:16 p.m..  ALL students are expected to LIVE WITH the decisions they make. 

If students CHOOSE to go to an option within the school, then they will be expected to remain there until 12:16 p.m. If students CHOOSE to go outside, then they should dress according to the conditions.  There are NO WARM-UP DOORS.

At 12:16 p.m., students who are outside will enter the school through the main doors by the office.
