Physical Education
The physical education program at Angus McKay School consists of activities to encourage and motivate students to develop a positive attitude towards a lifetime of health and fitness.
Healthy Lifestyles for All
The physical education program is progressive and unique because it works on developing the whole child. The classroom program works on developing the basic movement skills, in the early years and builds on them in the middle years. We include a wide range of games to develop individual skill. We use team games to develop fair play and cooperation. Students have the opportunity to develop their social skills through class activities, intramurals and interscholastic clubs. These activities provide them with an opportunity to work with others, set goals and solve problems.
The goal of the physical education program is to provide opportunities for all students to develop the skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to participate in an active healthy lifestyle. All of the students from Grades K-5 take part in the physical education program with a physical education teacher. The philosophy of the physical education program is to expose the students to as many different sports and activities as possible.
