JDG Student Chosen as Runner Up in National Contest

Simon%202.jpgCongratulations to Simon, a Grade 4 student from John de Graff School, who was chosen by Habit for Humanity (HFH) as one of nine runners up in their national Meaning of Home contest.

As a result of Simon’s win, his class received a pizza party, Simon received a tablet computer, and $10,000 will be donated to HFH Manitoba for a build. Well done, Simon!

The Meaning of Home contest provides children with a way to get involved in creative writing and give back to their community. It challenges them to think creatively about a topic that directly impacts their lives—the meaning of home.

Each contest entry results in a $10 donation to the child’s local HFH organization to help build safe, affordable homes for families in their community. This year, simply by entering the contest, over 12,000 students across Canada raised $302,000. The funds are provided by a sponsor.
