International Students Make RETSD Their Destination

intl_crd_hand22.jpgDid you know RETSD attracts students from around the world to study in our schools?

Through our International Education Program, students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a new culture and attend early, middle, or senior years schools, depending on their age. Most of our international students attend the six high schools in our division. These students are often attracted to the diverse range of innovative, challenging, and internationally accredited academic and technical-vocational programs we offer.

This school year, we have over 135 international students in kindergarten to Grade 12. These students have travelled to Winnipeg from countries such as Belgium, Brazil, Cambodia, Chile, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, India, Japan, Mexico, China, Peru, Rwanda, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Before these students arrive in Canada to study in RETSD, the International Education Program is responsible for finding suitable homestay families. Homestay families live in our division and are looking to welcome an international student into their home and provide the quintessential Winnipeg, Manitoban, and Canadian experience.

Without homestay families, there would be no program, so we are always looking for families who have an extra bedroom, speak English, and can provide a loving home. If you or someone you know may be interested, please get in touch with us at homestay@retsd.mb.ca!
