Blackboard information for students
Blackboard is the name of the web software that we are using in our online courses. Until recently, this software went by the name of WebCT. Blackboard purchased WebCT and has renamed the software. The interface is essentially the same.
Students that want to take an online course for credit need to apply through the administration in their own schools. Once they have been accepted and a teacher has registered them, then, they may log in to their course with information provided to them by their online teacher. More information about registration.
Previewing a sample online course
To explore what the Blackboard environment is like, you can preview a collection of courses that Manitoba Education has made available. These courses may or may not reflect the exact courses which will be offered in the River East Transcona School Division. The object here is to explore the interface as all of our online courses utilize this Blackboard environment.
To preview a course you will need to use the "preview as guest" link after clicking here.
