Welcome to our school
library
Welcome to the library and to our program of information
literacy. We believe that every student should have the skills necessary to
navigate in today's information-rich society. Determining information needs,
recognizing and selecting appropriate resources - whether print or online and
managing the information are fundamental skills needed for successful academic
research.

Program
Description
Students attend library classes where
they are allowed to sign out books and take them home to read. Parents are
encouraged to share reading time with their children and to remind them to
return books promptly. Lost or damaged books will result in a replacement charge
being assessed. Classes will also have the opportunity to participate in
inquiry-based learning with the teacher-librarian.
Throughout the school year, the classroom teachers and the teacher-librarian collaborate in planning, teaching and assessing units from the curriculum
through the inquiry-based learning (IBL) process. This process helps to improve
the students’ information literacy skills, technology skills, and reading and
writing of non-fiction.
