Skills Canada

Skills Canada is a national organization for the promotion of education in skilled trades and technologies. Skills Canada runs a number of events that support this goal, including provincial and national competitions in the spring. Competitions include trades such as automotive service, carpentry, culinary arts, and technologies such as graphic design, website design, and computer animation. There are also competitions in areas such as prepared speech and job interview, which apply to a broad range of competitors.

A large number of KEC teachers are involved in organizing competitions in their area of expertise and/or work with students preparing for the competition.

In addition to the main competitions, Skills Canada (Manitoba) also sponsors events such as the cardboard boat race, and model wind turbine competition which are great venues for challenging critical thinking and problem solving.

Skills Canada (Manitoba) also sponsors a number of trades and technology related conferences throughout the year.
