Once again, Angus McKay School will be participating in the Plastic Bag Roundup Challenge, a program of Take Pride Winnipeg, by collecting plastic bags for recycling. The goal of this challenge is to inspire everyone to reduce the amount of plastic we are using on a daily basis, and think about the affects plastic is having on our environment.

We will be collecting plastic bags for recycling throughout September and October.  This will be the final year Angus McKay will be collecting plastic bags as we are strongly encouraging families to reduce, or eliminate, the use of plastic bags and switch to reusable shopping bags.

We are encouraging all students to talk to their families about reducing the use of plastic bags.  If your child would like to collect bags from grandparents, aunts, uncles, or family friends and bring them to Angus to be recycled, please do; the more bags we recycle means the less plastic bags that are being contributed to our landfill!

Plastic bags for collection include:

 Grocery/shopping bags

  • Ziplock/sandwich bags
  • dry cleaning bags
  • bread bags
  • newspaper sleeves
  • cereal bags
  • ice bags
  • produce bags
