Community School Association
Who we are… We are an association made up of the parents of Angus McKay students including Angus McKay staff.
What we do… We help to raise funds for the little "extras" for our school and children; we organize and hold various events throughout the school year.
Fundraisers... Change year to year.
Events we hold... Hot lunch days, annual school fun night, teacher appreciation week and luncheon, informational/educational evenings on topics relating to our children.
How you can become involved... You can join the CSA for any or all of the events and offer your assistance whenever you can.
We meet... General meetings are held in the school library at 6:00 p.m. once a month. The day of the week changes year to year. This year we meet on the first Wednesday of every month. Parents/Guardians are welcome and encouraged to attend the C.S.A. meetings. Please plan to join us, we'd like the opportunity to meet you and to let you know what we are all about! New input, ideas or your concerns, are always of interest to us.
Angus McKay encourages parents to be involved as volunteers in the school. Staff and students value your assistance. In keeping with divisional policy, all volunteers are required to complete a child abuse registry check. All volunteers are also expected to sign a divisional pledge of confidentiality.
Volunteers are asked to sign in and out in the office and to wear a volunteer badge while helping at the school. The badge will help the students to identify who the volunteer is in the school and on the playground. From time to time teachers require parent drivers for field trips or activities. These volunteers must bring in a valid driver's license as well as complete the other documentation required by the division.
We have need of volunteers in many ways. Examples of volunteer jobs:
CSA executive membership
Event co-ordinators - CSA
Hot lunch committee
Checking hot lunch orders and counting money
Helping with crafts
Washing t-shirts after choir performances and sporting events
Completing scholastic orders
Handing out hot lunches
Field trip supervision
Painting curling rink
