Education Business Continuity Planning

 What we do

The RETSD Education Business Continuity Plan is developed to meet the unique needs of River East Transcona School Division’s (RETSD) schools during all phases of an emergency or other disruptive event to ensure critical / essential educational services are maintained.

The purpose of this plan is to assist in the development of school-level plans intended to provide direction in emergency prevention, preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery. It can be used to provide guidance to senior management level initiatives and can be used to facilitate the coordination between the response at the division’s level and the school/site-level response. The plan adheres to internationally acclaimed best practices in emergency management and school safety.

Since it is not possible to plan for every single possible scenario, this is an all-hazards / disruptive events plan. It is applicable for emergencies regardless of the hazards that triggers them. It focuses on the actions that are required to effectively manage an emergency rather than on the hazards themselves. Hazard-specific annexes are attached to this plan that cover specific hazard responses.
