English as an Additional Language (EAL) Programs for Adults

We know children aren't the only ones who need a bit of help when it comes to adjusting to a new community and culture. That's why we also provide instructors for adult newcomers who might need help learning the English language.

Adult immigrants can choose from several EAL classes offered by the division. Adults who wish to take classes at any of these locations must be referred there by WELARC – the Winnipeg English Language Assessment and Referral Centre.

Classes are offered at no cost to participants. The program is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. For more information about classes at Hampstead School and Lord Wolseley Elementary School, call 204-669-9412; for classes at McLeod Education Centre, Transcona Adult Learning Centre, and John Pritchard School, call 204-667-6193.
