We offer education in four languages—English, French, German, and Ukrainian—and also offer courses in Japanese and Spanish.
We offer both basic French and French immersion. Check out our brochure.
Basic French is available in Grades 4–12 across the division.
French immersion allows our students to study French more intensively and graduate with the ability to fluently speak, read, and write in both English and French.
Our dual-track schools offer both English and French immersion programming, while our four French milieu schools have only French immersion.
Students enter the French immersion program in kindergarten or Grade 1, or have the option of late entry into the program in Grade 6 at École Munroe Middle School. In Grade 12, students have the opportunity to obtain an international credential of French language proficiency (Diplôme d'etudes en langue française or DELF), which qualifies them to study at French-speaking universities in Europe.
We offer the only English-German Bilingual Program in Winnipeg. Check out our brochure.
The program begins in kindergarten and can continue through to Grade 12. Students have the opportunity to obtain an international credential of German language proficiency (Deutsches Sprachdiplom), which qualifies them to study at university in Germany.
The English-Ukrainian Bilingual Program begins in kindergarten and continues through to Grade 8. Check out our brochure.
The program gives our students the opportunity to become proficient in both Ukrainian and English. After Grade 8, students may write challenge exams offered through Manitoba Education and Advanced Learning to receive high school accreditation.
Japanese & Spanish
Students can also study Spanish at École Miles Macdonell Collegiate, Kildonan-East Collegiate, River East Collegiate, and Collège Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau. Japanese is offered at École Miles Macdonell Collegiate.
Both of these courses provide students with an introduction to the language and include oral and written components as well as an exploration of Japan's culture and the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries.
