Congratulations to Anna Nevoit and Rohan Mariash, both students at Collège Miles Macdonell Collegiate, who placed second and third, respectively, in their categories at the national Concours d'art oratoire. This year, the competition was virtual, and participants submitted videos.
The Concours d'art oratoire is a public speaking contest sponsored by the Canadian Parents for French (CPF). Students must write and prepare a speech on a topic of their choosing, then memorize and present this speech in their classroom. Classroom winners compete at a school-level competition and school winners then compete at the divisional level.
If a student places first divisionally, they continue to the provincial level where winners have the opportunity to win monetary prizes and a trophy for their school, as well as an invitation to participate at the national level.
The national winners receive a cash prize and are eligible for a scholarship from CPF's partner post-secondary institutions: University of Ottawa (ON), UniversitĂŠ Saint-Boniface (MB), UniversitĂŠ de Moncton (NB), UniversitĂŠ Sainte-Anne (NS), and Campus Saint-JeanâUniversity of Alberta (AB).
River East Transcona and Miles Macdonell are extremely proud of Anna and Rohan and wish them much luck in their future French studies. FĂŠlicitations!
