Teacher Rachel Dueck shared that “the first week back to school we talked about being kind to ourselves, using positives words of kindness to not only other people but ourselves.”
Her Grade 1/2 class at Lord Wolseley and Grade 2 class at Angus McKay participated in this exercise. The kids came up with sayings on their own and copied them from the board.
And each morning/afternoon they start their day with 5–10 minutes of mindfulness. The students are very responsive to it and Ms. Dueck can tell it calms them.
