Black History Month at Kildonan-East Collegiate is a very busy and exciting time. The student-led committee has several activities planned throughout the month, all with the goal of spreading awareness and understanding throughout the greater community. And what better way to do so than having fun!?
Activities include a schoolwide Kahoot challenge, impromptu "Test Your Knowledge" quizzes, a poetry competition, an Instagram presence, a talent show, and great snacks, to name just a few.
Given the pandemic, this year's celebration of culture is different from past years, but that has not slowed down the committee. Here is a photo of a two-day Snack-Blitz that brought traditional snacks to the forefront of KEC's Grab a Snack program. Store-bought and individually packaged snacks were purchased from Black-owned businesses so that all students of KEC could learn through munching. Students are excited to learn and grow together.
