Congratulations to Mary LaPage Leclerc, RETSD's student services consultant, on being chosen by the Manitoba Council for Exceptional Children to receive a Yes I Can certificate of recognition.
A true pioneer in supporting students and their families in the field of educational inclusion, Mary has served as a home teacher (for medically challenged students), an elementary classroom teacher, a teacher of at-risk students, a teacher in a middle school life skills program, a divisional inclusion teacher, a student services consultant, and an assistant manager of student services.
Throughout her 30-year career, she has been a tireless advocate for families to access appropriate programming. Divisional initiatives have included an aquatics program, P.A.T.H. facilitation, and school-to-community transitions. She has also served as a Special Olympics coach.
As an educational leader, Mary has partnered with families, divisional teams, and outside agencies with the focus on students' individual goals. Throughout, Mary has emphasized students achieving their full potential and has worked tirelessly in this pursuit.
