Congratulations to the Culinary Arts Program at Kildonan-East Collegiate on being chosen to receive a Certificate of Recognition from the Manitoba Council for Exceptional Children!
At Kildonan-East Collegiate, all students are included and there are examples throughout the school of students with different abilities experiencing success in the classroom—especially in the culinary, baking, and pastry arts departments.
Every day, students with a variety of abilities enter the KEC kitchen as a part of their programming. The creative and talented staff that work in this program have found ways to include students, no matter the barrier, in ways that allow them to literally taste success every day.
While in the kitchen, students are learning valuable skills and abilities that will support them in meeting their individual goals for independence and employment. The biggest testament to this program's success is the smiles of the students as they walk out of the kitchen with something (that smells and looks incredible) that they are taking home to eat.
