wooden plaque and treaty medalsThis year, École Neil Campbell School has been working with the division’s Indigenous Academic Education staff to increase knowledge about the importance of treaties. After some very purposeful teaching, every student in the school created their own treaty medal and students in every classroom collaborated to create their own classroom treaty.

The school also commissioned woodworking students and staff at John G. Stewart School to make this hand-carved acknowledgment sign that now hangs in the school’s entrance. Since acquiring the sign, the school has been starting every day with a land acknowledgment over the announcements and plays multi-language and Indigenous versions of O Canada regularly.
