Murdoch MacKay Collegiate played its final rugby game recently and they placed second! This is the first girls rugby team Murdoch has had and placing second is a huge accomplishment. They could not have done it without their amazing coach and role model Charlene Bakke.
The team is made up of international students. The girls put an immense amount of effort into training this season—for many, it was their first time ever playing rugby. They have not only found a new home here in Canada with the International Education Program, but also in the rugby team. The love, support, and encouragement the team has shown to one another has been amazing. A few of the girls have even signed up to play rugby when they return to their home countries!
