École Centrale teacher René Ammann has combined his experience as a French teacher with his skill as a playwright, creating a play about the challenges of learning French.
His play is one of three in a series titled Expressions Vives, which means "Vivid Expressions," and is being performed by two comedians in the local French theatre group Cercle Molière. They've taken the series of plays on tour across Manitoba to classrooms of students ranging from kindergarten to Grade 6.
Mr. Ammann geared his play for the Grade 3 and 4 crowds. It focuses on the use of auxiliaries "to be (I am)" and "to have (I have)" within a sentence, and incorporates songs and choreography.
Expressions Vives has been performed at École Centrale and École Margaret-Underhill in RETSD, along with other Winnipeg schools, and will soon be visiting locations throughout Manitoba, such as Ste Rose du Lac, Alonsa, Glenella, Swan Lake, Swan River, Flin Flon and The Pas.
