Weekly Programs (no fee but registration required)
Here is a quick overview of the free preschool programming offered by our Early Childhood Unit. You'll find all of the details you need to register for these programs in our Kinder Links newsletters.
Baby Bumblebees (birth to crawling)
Introduce your baby to the joy of songs, rhymes and finger plays in this hour-long program.
I'm a Little Yogi (crawling to 4 years)
A fun-loving, supportive yoga practice filled with proven techniques to playfully teach toddlers yoga postures.
Gift of Words (walking to 2 ½ years)
This hour-long, dynamic program for parents and toddlers features high-energy rhymes, singing, book sharing and puppets.
Jack Be Nimble (choose from sections for 2-3 years or 3-5 years)
This interactive session for parents and children is jam-packed with ideas for keeping the whole family fit, active and full of energy.
Once Upon a Rhyme (2-3 years)
This is an exciting program featuring an interactive group story experience, rhyme time and a book-sharing circle.
Purple Stew (3-5 years)
A tasty new early learning program, Purple Stew focuses on themes of healthy eating and nutrition through lively songs, rhymes, books, crafts and activities.
1, 2, Buckle My Shoe (3-5 years)
Families will enjoy songs, books, games and activities focusing on counting and early math.
All Aboard the Friend Ship (4-5 years)
Participants will have fun learning about being a good friend, taking turns, understanding and managing their emotions and developing problem-solving skills.
Night Owls (1-5 years)
Parents and children will have a "hoot" participating in this evening program where they will enjoy quality time together playing with toys, reading books, singing and creating art.
Shake, Rattle and Rhyme (2-5 years)
During this musically themed program, participants will play a variety of instruments and sing, dance and get active. They'll also make a musical craft to take home.
Animal Crackers (3-5 years)
Participants will learn about a different animal each week through stories, activities and crafts.
Follow the Leaf'er (2-5 years)
Through songs and rhymes, stories, art and science activities, participants will celebrate the sights, sounds and tastes of autumn.
Weekend Wee Play (1-5 years)
This Saturday morning session brings families together to discover toys and puzzles, create with play dough, sing and hear stories.
Single-session Programs (no fee but registration required)
Star Light, Star Bright (2-5 years)
This is an evening pyjama party for the whole family.
Mr. Golden Sun Beach Party (2-5 years)
Bring the whole family to a beach party without the sand!
Pirate and Princess Tea Party (2-5 years)
Families will have the opportunity to go on a treasure hunt, play games, make crafts, read some great books and have fun meeting other families in their community.
Nursery Notes (3-5 years)
This is a fun, interactive session for parents and kids with members from the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
Hey Diddle Diddle - Books, Rhymes and Riddles (2-5 years)
Participants will celebrate nursery rhymes and storybooks by making homemade books, participating in story-telling activities, and playing games inspired by their favourite storybooks and nursery rhymes.
Oodles of Doodles (2-5 years)
During this art extravaganza, participants are sure to enjoy finger painting, making chalk drawings, creating interesting collages, crafting with play dough and more!
Literacy Links Family Picnic
Families are invited to bring a picnic supper and enjoy special activities such as face painting, parachute rhyme time, and bingo.
Whale Tales (2-5 years)
Through books, crafts, games and math activities, participants learn about our friends who live in the deep blue sea.
The Great Snow Ball (2-5 years)
This program celebrates the winter season with snowball basketball, winter art, science and active games, as well as with a look at penguins and polar bears.
Diggin' with the Dinos (2-5 years)
Participants explore the world of dinosaurs through books, puzzles, active games and art.
Drop-in Programs (no fee and no registration required)
Many of our early years schools offer Stay & Play programs. Join other families in the neighbourhood once a week for an informal morning or afternoon of singing, playing, crafting and reading. Check Kinder Links for more information.
